Tim James

Tim’s background, before becoming interested in personal and organisational performance, was in management and customer care for part of a large international airline.  He entered the world of training and development through practical business experience of leading and managing teams and projects in a fast moving and pressurised environment.  Now, with over 18 years consultancy experience both in the UK and globally, he coaches, trains and advises managers in a wide range of organisations.

As a mature student Tim studied counselling and psychotherapy, with a special focus on stress and pressure in a business environments, as part of a Masters Degree.  He has trained in, and studied, a number of developmental models including Neuro-Linguistics, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Action Methods and Psychodrama.  Tim is also the creator or Dynamic Needs Analysis, a behavioural assessment process for evaluating group and individual performance.

Tim has previously worked extensively with both KPMG and The International Consulting Group on organisational and management development programmes. He is a member of the Association for Management Education and Development as well as the Institute of Continuing Professional Development.

One of Tim’s favourite areas of research is in leadership and management performance coaching. He has run Leadership Mastery programmes for all levels of managers for eighteen years, as well as delivering training programmes for developing high team and personal performance. Tim has lectured and taught in many parts of the world including UK, Europe, North America, the Caribbean and Russia.

Outside of his professional life, Tim is a member of the RNLI Lifeboat Crew with the role of Navigator on the All Weather Lifeboat and also Helmsman for the Rapid Response Inshore Lifeboat. He has received two commendations and a top regional award for his service to date. This 24/7 full time commitment when not working away on business continues to provide valuable insights into how individuals and groups behave in, often, the most extreme and challenging situations.
